"The Ritual" title refers to the ritual in which geese have of flying to the south for winter, and that is what these geese are doing. Bob admired this scene of a woodshed near his beach studio. One day when he stopped by, a group of geese flew over from a nearby pond and gave him the idea for this painting. It is interesting to note that geese mate for life and will try to help and protect one another when one is hurt.
