The Pilot Mountain Foundation sold quite a few of these prints and raised over $80,000.00 for a community sports complex.

“The Pilot” has always been a landmark and a beacon for travelers even back when only native Americans traveled the area.

The Saura Native Americans, the region's earliest known inhabitants, called the mountain "Jomeokee", meaning "great guide".
