Captain Charlie Swan was the keeper of the lights at Frying Pan Shoals in the lower Cape Fear, Southeastern North Carolina. He was a Swedish immigrant named Charles Swang, he dropped the "G" and was a local legend. Charlie made his home on Bald Head Island, this is the view from his porch, looking out to the Atlantic.
